US rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs apologized Sunday for his “inexcusable” and “disgusting” behavior after CNN aired a video showing an outburst of violence on his part against his former partner, R&B singer “Cassie,” in 2016 at a Los Angeles hotel.
“My behavior in this video is inexcusable,” said the world star and New York hip-hop billionaire in a video posted on his Instagram profile.
He adds that he is “disgusted” by what we see on screen and explains that he has since sought treatment, especially for his addictions. “I’m really sorry,” he adds.
“Violent” and “deviant” behavior
The 54-year-old rapper and producer, who also goes by the names “Puff Daddy” and “P Diddy,” has been caught since 2023 several accusations of rape, sexual exploitation and from physical and psychological violence.
Among them is a civil lawsuit filed in New York by Cassie, who accuses her former partner of rape in 2018 and of “violent” and “deviant” behavior over a decade, such as forcing sex with male prostitutes. The matter was eventually settled “amicably” under a confidential agreement.
The legal action by the singer, real name Casandra Ventura, involved a particularly violent physical assault, which was shown in surveillance footage from March 5, 2016, and was discovered and authenticated by CNN on Friday.
We see the rapper, who is simply wearing a towel around his waist, catch up with Cassie in the hotel hallway, grab her roughly and throw her to the ground violently, before kicking her several times.
landmark denied all the facts of the civil suit November and was not criminally reported.
