We learned of the death of Johanna Couffet, nee Gaucher, on Wednesday, June 5, at the age of 67.e year.
Born on March 6, 1957 in Chaumont, Johanne was the youngest of three daughters (Yveline, Colette and Johanne). After living on the Sautreuil farm in Arc-en-Barrois, which his parents managed from 1955 to 1967, the family moved to the Bar-sur-Seine (Aube) area, to Avirey-Lingey, where his father was foreman in the vineyards.
At that time, Johanne met Michel Genet, who became her first husband on August 17, 1976 and the father of her first two children: Nancy and Jérémie. Johanne quickly started her professional life, first with her family in the vineyard.
She went on to work in the hospital, shop and personal services sector around Bar-sur-Seine, before returning to Arc-en-Barrois. In this city, she worked at the post office for a while, and especially at the Pensioners’ Home from 2008 to 2019, the year she retired.
In the meantime, there have been numerous professional moves: from researcher for the Institute of Marketing and Public Opinion Research to counter clerk at the toll booths in Ville-sous-La-Ferté, not forgetting the bakery saleswoman on the tour of Marac and the waitress at Providence in Châteauvillain.
Johanne appreciated the peace of nature and the charm of a simple life. Picking mushrooms, daffodils and lilies of the valley are among her small pleasures that she was able to share with several family members and her second husband, Patrick Couffet.
From this union, which was made official on June 17, 1989, Alexis was born.
Johanne will be remembered as a woman full of vitality and open speech. It was easy to start a conversation with her. She also loved to produce with her hands: making bottles, sewing, painting and drawing.
She was second to none in making terrine and other wild boar preparations that were available to her during the hunting season.
Life under the open sky was of the greatest benefit to her, and since she settled in Châteauvillain, in the house opposite her only granddaughter, Anaëlle, three years ago, she had not missed a walk in the deer park.
But three weeks ago, back pain disrupted this daily life for the first time. Pain, which, in fact, hid a deeper illness and which took its toll on his health.
Hospitalized in Langres for several weeks, she died there on Wednesday June 5.
His funeral will be celebrated on Monday June 10 at the Arc-en-Barrois church.
Our condolences to his family.
