what will be the next revaluation?

To cope with changes in inflation, pensions are increased every year. For the additional pension of the Agirc-Arrco system, the revaluation is carried out in the fall. Therefore, pensions for former employees in the private sector should increase next November. As for the increase, it is decided after negotiations between the social partners.

In 2024, the supplementary pension of the Agirc-Arrco plan has already undergone several changes. The first occurred in February with the reassessment of the rate of general social contributions (CSG). A change that affected Agric-Arrco supplementary pensions, but not in the same way.

On April 1, another change took place, namely the abolition of the 10% penalty applied to the Agirc-Arrco supplementary pension. A measure that benefits a large number of pensioners from the private sector. The changes should not stop there, because the Agirc-Arrc regime revalues the collected pensions every fall.

On November 1, 2023, the value of the Agirc-Arrco supplementary pension point was increased by 4.9%, compared to 5.12% in 2022 (due to a particularly high inflation rate). Let us remind you that the revaluation of purchased pensions for former employees in the private sector is decided every year after meetings of the social partners. Indeed, following the recommendations of this financial commission, the management board of the Agirc-Arrco scheme decides on the amount of the next revaluation.

Agirc-Arrco revaluation depends on inflation and SMPT

As for the calculation method of this increase, the supplementary pension insurance fund is based on the lowest index between the forecast inflation rate for the current year and the change in the average salary of employees in the private sector (average salary per capita, SMPT). For example, in 2022, the Agirc-Arrc regime took into account this average salary per inhabitant instead of inflation for the revaluation of supplementary pensions (5.13% for inflation and 4.8% for SMPT).

For the revaluation in November 2024, the amount is not yet known, it should be decided by Agirc-Arrco after the next meetings of the social partners. According to Banque de France forecasts, inflation should remain at around 2.5% in 2014. In the event that the supplementary pension fund for former private sector employees decides to revalue based on inflation, the increase in supplementary pensions would therefore be close to 2.5 %. Therefore, the evolution of SMPT remains to be seen, in the first quarter of 2024, the increase amounted to 3.2% over one year.
