The energy check is a long-awaited help for households in a financially insecure situation. It helps finance part of the energy bill. In 2024, due to the abolition of the housing tax, almost a million households did not receive this financial assistance last April.
Forgotten households are those that welcomed a child in 2022 or suffered a drop in income, so they were given access to an energy audit. Added to them were some new graduates who just got their first place.
As a reminder, eligibility criterion number 1 is the reference tax revenue (RFR) that does not exceed 11,000 euros per consumption unit (CU).
The first adult person in the household represents 1 CU, while other members over 14 count 0.5 CU. Children under 14 represent 0.3 UA.
Last April, more than 5.6 million households received a check in the mail. For the rest, a complaint is required. According to the Minister of Economy, an online counter for complaints will be in effect from July. For now, we do not know the exact date of publication on the Internet.
However, what we do know is that it will be available until December 31. However, it is advisable to send your dispute from the first days of opening, in order to avoid periods of saturation and to receive it quickly.
The energy audit will be sent 1 to 2 months after the request.
How to request your energy check?
To claim your energy check, simply access the claims platform that will be published on the website checkenergie.gouv.fr. The applicant must state his/her surname, first name, date of birth and tax number.
He must also attach a copy of his identity card, as well as a copy of the energy bill. However, before applying, it is advisable to check whether you are eligible for device, by checking the amount of his RFR.
In order to easily and quickly check your eligibility, it is recommended to conduct an online simulation.
Let’s remind, on checking the amount of energy varies between 48 and 277 euros. It is calculated based on the amount of RFR of the user per consumption unit.
For a single person, who has 1UC, the amount of the energy inspection is 194 euros, for RFR/UC less than 5700 euros. A pair representing 1.5 UC receives EUR 240 for an RFR/UC not exceeding EUR 5,700.
