As the group caught the player’s ear

A band can feel that they have reached a certain stage in their career when they find themselves playing a song from The Beatles in front of Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. Imagine Dragons – known for titles like radioactive Or Believer – achieved an additional feat: he found himself on stage with the legendary Koji Kondo, the Japanese composer associated with the Nintendo license Mario AND Zelda.

It is The Washington Post who is talking this moment, which happened in 2014 during the first Game Awards (which should be the Oscars of video games), in Las Vegas.

“I was even more in big fan mode than playing in front of McCartney,” laughs Dan Reynolds.

The singer and founder of the American group is an avid gamer himself, and it is no coincidence that his group also composed songs for video games.

On June 28, the group releases its sixth studio album: Loom. The Washington Daily explains:

“We find the group’s trademark sound again: songs that make you move, bombarded with sound effects and catchy choruses.”

If the general atmosphere is brighter than in the previous works, we find in the poem like Eyes closed indications that bragging is just a facade for self-protection, says Dan Reynolds at The Washington Post.

As the diary recalls, “The lyrics of many of Imagine Dragons’ songs touch on Reynolds’ struggle with depression. Famous classics like Thunder (published in 2017, on the album To develop) speaks to Reynolds’ resilience in the face of overwhelming doubt.”

“League of Legends” on tour

Imagine Dragons’ association with the world of video games was gradual, but the group is now well entrenched in this landscape.

So much so that an article in an American newspaper was written by Gene Park, their video game expert.

The latter records the latest achievements of the four friends in this field, like a poem Children of heaven in the game soundtrack star field, released in summer 2023.

Or Foe, which serves as the theme song of the Netflix animated series mysterious, adapted in 2021 from the very popular arena game League of Legends.

Dan Reynolds points out that he did not seek these partnerships himself, but representatives from the gaming world came to him and accepted all these projects. “Look, I have a mirror body, but I never did sports, I was more into music and theater.

So people don’t think of me as a gamer at all even though I love it. It really is our universe,” he concludes, adding that the other members are also fans of video games, which they play during their tours.

“Once we were late for the concert because we were finishing a part league of legends !”
