Today’s program:
14:00 and 15:00: Guide (with reservation). Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of the MADOI bestiary with guided tours that will introduce you to key parts of the exhibition. Our passionate guides will take you on a journey through the history and legends of the creatures on display.
1:30 p.m.: Introductory workshop of Chinese painting and calligraphy with Du Min (by order). Discover the delicate art of Chinese painting and calligraphy under the expert guidance of Du Min. This workshop will offer you an immersion in the traditional techniques of this ancient art, a true moment of creativity and serenity.
17:00: Colorful Indian dance. To end this afternoon in style, attend a colorful Indian dance performance presented by Shruti Music in collaboration with the Natya Jyothi Association. This association, opened in 2022, and the Réunir association, founded in 2009 to promote Indian culture, will offer you a fascinating journey through the dance styles of India, such as Bharata-Natyam, Bollywood and Garba.
The group, composed of twenty passionate students of all ages, will take you away with the grace of Bharata-Natyam and the energy of Kollywood dances.
Bharatanatyam is a sacred dance that originates from southern India, specifically from the state of Tamil Nadu. It is one of the oldest Indian classical dance forms, whose roots go back thousands of years. Traditionally practiced in temples as a form of devotion and worship, it is deeply rooted in Hindu culture and religion.
Garba is a traditional dance originating from the state of Gujarat in India. It is a form of folk dance that is especially popular during the Navratri festival, a nine-night Hindu festival dedicated to the goddess Durga.
Bollywood dance is extremely popular in India, mainly due to its ubiquitous presence in Indian cinema. Bollywood is a Hindi film industry based in Mumbai that produces hundreds of films every year. Almost all these films include elaborate dance numbers that attract large audiences.
These dances are often very colorful, energetic and melodramatic, which makes them very attractive to spectators. Bollywood dances include a variety of styles, from classical Indian dances such as Bharatanatyam and Kathak to contemporary and Western influences such as hip-hop and jazz. This fusion of styles makes Bollywood dance accessible and appealing to a diverse audience.
