Health is an important link in the country’s development. Therefore, the bilateral cooperation between the Horizon Sahel association and the Sine Saloum Santé school (E3S) is part of that dynamic in order to provide the population with quality healthcare.
“The Horizon Sahel Association, of which I am a member, is true to its benevolent philosophy of working for good causes. Since it was founded by Daniel MILLER in 2007, it has continued to take concrete action to improve the human condition through its interventions in priority areas such as health.
It was also in this spirit that she had the intelligent initiative to connect the School of Sine Saloum Santé (E3S) based in Kaolack (Senegal) and the School of Midwifery in Tours located at 2 Boulevard Tonnelle 37044 Tours Cedex 9 in Tours, France,” informs the administrative and Academic Director of E3S, Doctor Babacar Mbaye Lô, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Keur Khadim Rassoul Children’s Institute School Group (IPREK) located in the municipality of Ndiéyène Sirakh in the Thiès Department (Senegal) and President of the Solidarity Association for the Future of Women and Children (Asdef ).
Established in 2017 by a group of three pharmacists with more than 10 years of experience in the health sector and aware of current geostrategic issues, E3S has set itself the fundamental goal of training competent health agents, able to take care of health needs with humility, calmness and ethics.
“The Tours School of Midwifery located at the Bretonneau University Hospital Center (CHU) in Tours is a training institution that enjoys a good reputation for its quality training offering. “By placing the midwife in orbit, who is an essential factor in perinatal health, the institution contributes to the implementation of French health policy,” said Mr. Lô.
Who points out that “this collaboration that connects these two training institutes thanks to the foresight of the Horizon Sahel association is a clear translation of their commitment to providing communities with human resources that can effectively and efficiently respond to their expectations in health matters, more specifically reproductive health.” » And he added: “It is clear that this collaboration offers our students the opportunity to develop their autonomy, their ability to communicate, solve problems, their cultural openness and a sense of international social integration.”
Through their study experiences abroad, they acquire socio-cognitive skills and develop international networks.” Also, in October 2025, students of the Sine Saloum Santé school, selected on the basis of objective criteria, will go to France for a three-month training. Conversely, the Midwifery School of Tours plans to send students to Senegal to offer them the same advantage in 2025.
Continuing, Dr. Babacar Mbaye Lô indicates that “this partnership that we are establishing through the Horizon Sahel association is a manifestation of our real commitment to support our young people in their search for useful knowledge that enables them to participate in the implementation of public health policies.
Dr. Lô wanted to thank Chantal BARIN, responsible for international cooperation, the delegation of the Center for Clinical Research and Innovation (DRCI) Val de Loire, the Faculty of Medicine of Tours which enabled the cooperation with the midwifery school of Tours, the director of the midwifery school, Marie Claire PERRIN who accepted the cooperation, special recognition to Marie Thérèse FREMERY, Vice President of Horizon Sahel, in charge of the school component and President MILLER for their investment in the success of this collaboration, not forgetting Professor Ousseynou Diop, CEO of Crous Sine-Saloum who accompanied them throughout the process.
