It’s time to pay tribute. Wednesday, May 14, at the Incarville tollbooth in Eure, a Armed commandos violently attacked a prison convoy carrying repeat offender Mohamed Amra, killing two prison guards.

Gabriel Attal will pay tribute this Wednesday prison captain Fabrice Moello and brigade supervisor Arnaud Garcia in the presence of Minister of Justice Éric Dupond-Moretti. Initially, Emmanuel Macron was supposed to preside over the ceremony, but the president goes to New Caledonia to “set up a mission” there. Therefore, he will be replaced by the prime minister.

A two-step program

According to the program originally published by Elizej, the arrival of Gabriel Attal at the investigation center in Caen will be at 11 am. The two murdered agents were housed in that prison. First, the Prime Minister will take a moment to meet and talk with the families of the two victims.

This private exchange will precede the official national tribute ceremony, which is scheduled to begin around noon with a flag salute, a viewing of the bodies and the bringing in of coffins. Gabriel Attal will then give a speech, which will be followed by a minute of silence and the Marseillaise.

As indicated by French blueother more intimate tribute ceremonies will be held during the week in the respective communes of the slain agents, in Thury-Harcourt and Blangy-le-Château in Calvados.

“All measures are being taken to find the perpetrators”

“Tomorrow we will honor the memory of two prison officers who paid the price of their dedication with their lives,” a government spokeswoman commented on Tuesday as she left the Council of Ministers. “I would like to assure their family that all means are being taken to find the perpetrators of this barbaric act,” continued Prisca Thévenot.

Since then, 350 investigators have been looking for the fugitive and his accomplices throughout the country. Hunting is also organized outside the borders, with “red warrants” issued by Interpol at the request of the French authorities to locate the escaped detainee.

Shocked by the murder of two of their colleagues, prison officials launched a lockdown movement in the middle of last week to “keep the pressure” on the government. They have already achieved an improvement in their armaments during these detainee transfers and a limit on the number of the most dangerous withdrawals, thanks to the use of video conferencing or the transfer of judges to the prison.
