Non-governmental organization “Safe Water Cube” equips 12 schools in Rufisque with fountains worth 20 million FCFA

As part of its activities, the non-governmental organization Agir Ensemble “Safe Water Cube” provided more than 12 fountains to schools in the municipality of Rufisque.
The inclusive elementary school in Thiawlène was the first to receive this delegation, led by the leaders of the mentioned non-governmental organization, a representative of the IEF and the mayor of the municipality of Rufisque Est.
When speaking, the IEF representative extolled this program that will impact thousands of school children in Rufisque. According to Inspector Ibrahima Faye, “this action contributes to the quality of teaching and learning.
That is already an outstanding educational input. Your gesture, when properly analyzed, enters into the quality of learning and information,” he pointed out.

According to him, every parent would like their student to come to school all the time without the risk of getting sick. “If you offer them, for example, such an asset, such an opportunity, we can only say thank you and a really big thank you.

Your teaching team, you are happy to welcome this gem that will give students access to free drinking water. You must carry this torch. We invite you to hold it, because how many schools were not so lucky? As an inspector, I visited many remote areas of the country.

There are schools where children drop out due to lack of drinking water. I am taking this opportunity to appeal to the said NGO to expand this program to other schools located in very remote parts of the country,” asserted IEF representative, Ousseynou Gaye.

The Safe Water Cube fountain makes all surface water drinkable (river water, pond water, well water or salt water.)

It filters 1,000 liters of water per hour or 150,000 liters per month. It is completely mobile and mechanical and does not require any energy or chemicals.

The carbon footprint for the production of the Safe Water Cube fountain is equal to the daily production of one person (20.5 kg – CO2). In order to equip these 12 schools in Rufisque with these fountains, a tidy sum of 20 million was set aside.

Jean-Paul Augereau, founder of the non-governmental organization Agir Ensemble, spoke at length about the importance of this program, which enabled hundreds of schools around the world to be equipped. “We are here today to install 12 fountains with 12 tanks in 12 schools in Rufisque.

Since 2016, 3380 fountains have been installed in 22 countries of the world. These devices now enable 250,000 people to have access to drinking water. In fact, we must understand that water is health and hygiene. 80% of children’s diseases are related to the water they drink.

Children who are sick are children who cannot go to school. Our job is to provide them with as normal an education as possible, because education helps the development of the population’s economy. And that is our mission in life,” he said during this ceremony held this Monday in Rufisque.
