It is with deep sadness that we learned of the death of Quentin Van-Hoorne on Thursday 23rd May, aged just 19.
Quentin was born on January 27, 2005 in Fontainebleau, Seine-et-Marne. He was the only child of Laurence and Cédric Van-Hoorne. Pampered by his parents and grandparents, he was surrounded by a loving family. When he was younger, he sadly lost his two maternal grandparents, but he still had Jean-François Van-Hoorne, his paternal grandfather, well known to the Dervois.
Quentin had two great passions in life, shooting, as well as airplanes and aeronautics.
He started practicing archery ten years ago. Laurence, his mother, started training at the same time as him. Cédric, his father then followed them and therefore trained this sport with his family which he was passionate about.
He discovered airplanes as a child, during an air show that his parents took him to. He was immediately seduced to the point that he wanted to make his career. So he was in the first year of BTS aeronautics at Jarny. He has been practicing in Reims since the beginning of the month and is very satisfied with what he is doing there.
He was so attracted to airplanes that when he saw one in the sky, he could identify the type and species. The school year was a bit complicated because I lived in an apartment and was far from my family and friends. but he really liked his training even though the results did not always meet his expectations.
His parents supported him in his choice, agreeing if it was necessary to find another course.
Like many young people his age, Quentin also played online games and stayed in touch with these friends despite the distance due to his studies.
The weekend before his death, Quentin, Laurence and Cédric spent a very pleasant time that fulfilled all of Quentin’s passions. On Saturday, they were at an aviation meeting, and on Sunday at archery training.
On Monday, they even went to see the little cat that Quentin intended to adopt when he was weaned. Everything was going well and nothing could have predicted Quentin’s departure.
A civil ceremony will take place on Thursday, May 30, at the Thiéblemont-Farémont crematorium.
Our condolences to Laurence and Cédric and all his family.
