Poland: several arrests in alleged Russian sabotage plot

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced the creation of a commission to investigate the influence of Russia and Belarus.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that three new Russian agents were arrested last night, following the announcement the day before of the arrest of nine other people.

According to the former president of the Council of the European Union, the Polish secret services have the right to assume that Russian agents are said to be dealingbig fire at the Marywilska Street market in Warsaw.

The Polish Prime Minister also warned Moscow against it any attempt to force the Polish borderthey estimate that Russia has already collected thousands of migrants on its territory and intends to bring them to Belarus, where they are expected to storm the Polish border.

“Russia has gathered thousands of migrants. Several meeting places in Russia have been located for organized groups of migrants who must be transported to Belarus. This involves thousands of people,” said Donald Tusk.

He added that this was the last information obtained by the Polish services in cooperation with the allies.

Mr. Tusk also announced the creation of a commission responsible for investigation the influence of Russia and Belarus in Poland in the years 2004-2024. According to Mr. Tusk, the commission’s work should lead to referrals to the Attorney General, and an interim report is expected during the summer.

Last Saturday, the head of the Polish government also stated that Poland has invested about $2.5 billion to strengthen security and deterrence on its border with Russia and its ally Belarus.
