The automated measurement system at the University of the West Indies Center for Seismic Research recorded the tremor at 10:43 this Wednesday morning (May 8, 2024).
The magnitude of this earthquake is currently estimated at 5.4 on the Richter scale, but it should be clarified in the coming minutes by the Seismological and Volcanological Observatory of Guadeloupe (OVSG), the reference body on the subject for the territory.
The epicenter is located 66 kilometers north of Pointe-à-Pitre. The depth has not yet been announced.
