For the official daily newspaper of the Communist Party of Cuba, Grandma, it’s just a “a visit that testifies to the historical relations of friendship between Cuba and the Russian Federation”.
Three Russian warships, as well as a military tanker with a capacity of 9,000 tons of fuel, arrived on Wednesday, June 12 – until June 17 – in the port of Havana.
Newspapers hasten to add: “The Ministry of Revolutionary Armed Forces clarifies that none of the ships carry nuclear weapons and do not pose a threat to the region.”
The message was undoubtedly intended for Washington – which was not previously warned about this maneuver – in a tense context war in Ukraine.
The two ships are among the flagships of the Russian fleet. Frigate Admiral Gorshkov, the emblematic ship of the eponymous class, is capable of launching sea-to-land and sea-to-sea hypersonic missiles.
